Well, here we are, back in the saddle.  It’s been quite some time since my last posting and it feels good to return to Spoonfed (Atlanta).  I have been busy as of late with some paid assignments and traveling back and forth between Raleigh and Atlanta.  On my last visit to Atlanta I was able to visit a few restaurants so I should have some posts coming up in the next couple of weeks and I hope to continue booking some more restaurants to shoot on my trips back to the area.  This reemergence came at a proper time for as my calender states, it was one year ago this week that I posted my first post here on Spoonfed (Atlanta).  Since it’s inception I have learned and grown as a photographer.  I am still enjoying the challenge of placing myself in different locations and trying to create some interesting imagery using what I have on hand.  There is a certain feeling of ‘the hunt’ that comes from this type of shooting.  As I enter a space for the first time I tend to be scanning for places to set a dish and utilize the different backgrounds and textures supplied by the decor within a restaurant.  Often surprised and always challenged, I am happy with the results.  Likewise, even though this Spoonfed adventure began as a ‘labor of love’ and was initially just to keep me busy and shooting in between paid work, it has been growing and finding it’s way as nice addition to my marketing plan.  Even though I am still moving forward with this blog, I do find myself asking how I can improve upon it or what can I do to continue presenting myself with newer challenges so I hope to be showing some improvements in the future.  If you have enjoyed any of the work here please feel free to comment or shoot me an email mark@markpetko.com and let me know.  Thanks for viewing and Happy Days.

This most recent work showcases some dishes found at Savu in the W Hotel (Perimeter).  The space is sleek yet quite unassuming and really blends into one with the bar and lobby, although there is a fairly large patio with outdoor seating that expands the space.  Taking the lead in the kitchen is Chef Stacie Vande Wetering (some of her past credentials here) offering a multitude of small plates and main dishes to hotel guests and external diners alike.  I appreciate Stacie’s interest she showed in the photography due to her husband’s interest in the craft and her desire to one day be able to work together with him photographing some of her dishes.
